It was so great to Skype with all of you! I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father has blessed me with an awesome family.
Not much has happened since Skype-ing with you. We had a great Christmas with the Browns and I took the attached picture at their ranch.
The Hispanic people in this area are usually really nice. Even if they aren't interested in what we have to say, they still listen and chat for a little while.
Our investigator Mariana was a referral from a member. She is 17 years old and she is already attending college. She seems like she has been through some hard times, so it's great to share the gospel with her. She is not very expressive, so we don't know how well she received our message on the restoration, but we will continue teaching her.
Ingrid is an older woman who seems interested but her husband is not so much. Hopefully she will read the Book of Mormon. It's so important for people to read it; and it can be hard to help people understand just how key the Book of Mormon is.
When I was in Manteca, we had to drive all the way to the city Tracy to go to our district meetings. It was weird how our district was divided: half of us were in Manteca, the other half in Tracy. That was how the other district was divided too, so we thought, "Why not have everyone in Manteca have their own district, and Tracy be it's own district?" But looking back, I think Heavenly Father made it that way just for me, so that I could be in the same district as Sisters Tu'atonga and Smith, so I wouldn't miss them so much after being transferred so suddenly to Manteca.
On Christmas Eve, we had our Christmas devotional with the whole mission. I participated in several musical numbers. I played the piano for some sisters in my zone, Sisters Pisa and Rugg. The Primary song was "Picture a Christmas"; then Sister Rodas and I sang "Estrella de Luz" I sang and played piano at the same time. Elder Martinez and I sang "Joy to the World" in English and Spanish on the ukulele. And Sisters Pisa and Rodas sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" in English Spanish and Samoan while I played the piano.

¡Fue bien padre hablar
con ustedes por Skype! Me siento agradecida con el Padre Celestial por
bendecirme con una familia tan buena onda.
No ha pasado mucho
desde que hablamos. Pasamos bien la Navidad con la familia Brown y la foto que
les adjunto la tomé en el rancho de ellos.
Los hispanos que viven
por estos lugares normalmente son muy amables, ya que aun si no les interesa
nuestro mensaje, de todos modos nos escuchan y platican con nosotras un rato.
Tenemos una
investigadora que se llama Mariana que fue una referencia de un miembro. Tiene
17 años y está en la universidad, parece que ha pasado por experiencias duras y
nos da gusto poder compartir el Evangelio con ella. No es muy expresiva y así
que no sabemos si le llegó el mensaje sobre la Restauración, pero vamos a
seguir enseñándole.
Ingrid es una mujer ya
mayor que parece tener interés en la Iglesia, pero no así su esposo. Ojalá que
lea el Libro de Mormón. Es muy importante que la gente lo lea y a muchos se le
dificulta entender lo crucial que es.
Cuando estaba en
Manteca, teníamos que ir a nuestras reuniones de distrito hasta Tracy. La forma
en que el distrito estaba dividido se me hacía rara, ya que la mitad estábamos
en Manteca y la otra en Tracy. Así era como también estaba dividido y siempre
pensamos: “¿y por qué no tener un distrito en Manteca y uno en Tracy?".
Ahora que miro hacia atrás, creo que el Padre Celestial lo puso de esa manera
especialmente para mí, para que pudiera estar en el mismo distrito que las
hermanas Tu'atonga y Smith, y así no las extrañara tanto después de que me
cambiaran de forma tan repentina a Manteca.
En la Nochebuena
tuvimos nuestro devocional de Navidad con toda la misión. A mí me tocó
participar con muchos números musicales, toqué el piano para algunas hermanas
de mi zona, como las hermanas Pisa y Rugg. Ellas cantaron una canción de la
Primaria que se llama “Picture a Christmas” y luego con la Hna. Rodas cantamos
“Estrella de luz”, y yo canté y toqué el piano al mismo tiempo. Con el élder
Martínez cantamos “¡Regocijad! Jesús nació” en inglés y en español, y toqué el
ukelele. Luego, las hermanas Pisa y Rodas cantaron “Yo sé que vive mi Señor” en
inglés, español y samoano, y yo las acompañé en el piano.
Tomen nota de esto: El
presidente de la rama es dueño de una paletería que se llama Girasol y
definitivamente que un día regresaré a comer ahí.
