Transfer calls!!
We
got our transfer calls last night and I knew 6 weeks ago that our trio
companionship would not last, and I knew that I would be the one leaving, and I
was right! Hnas Rodas and Pratt are staying here in Modesto. I will be leaving
Modesto and I'm going down to Ceres! I'm really excited because I've heard that
the ward is really awesome. I will be companions with Hna. Pimentel who I've
heard is a really good missionary. I'm so excited!! I am really sad to leave
Hna Rodas though because she is such an awesome friend. But we have the rest of
our lives planned already; in the future, our kids are going to be each other's
cousins.
Also
this transfer is going to be 7 weeks long instead of 6 weeks since all the
missions got extended due to the fact that new missionaries will no longer be
in the MTC for only 12 days, the minimum is 3 weeks. So that's crazy! But it
truly sounds like it will be a fun transfer so I'm glad!!
So
this week we visited some of our favorite less-actives, Jorge and Melissa. They
are seriously so cool and I truly feel the Spirit so strongly whenever we enter
their home. This week we watched the Restoration movie with them and they felt
the Spirit. I just hope with all my heart that they will come back to Church.
We
have a new investigator named Cinthia who is the sister of some active members
of ours. She is so awesome because when we were over at her sister's house
reading the Book of Mormon with all the kids, she just straight up asked us if
she could have a Book of Mormon. I love it when we don't even have to offer the
Book of Mormon to people and they just ask on their own; it's a sign that they
truly are willing to listen to us and our message. She says she wants to get
closer to God and she wants to get baptized but she doesn't feel ready quite
yet. She's had a hard life (don't we all?). We'll see her tonight and
tell her that we have the faith that she will be ready soon. Even though I
won't be in this area anymore I'm still so happy to have been able to meet with
Cinthia and hear her story. I truly hope she will progress to baptism.
So
Elder Lopez is Mexican but he doesn't like Mexican food. He was sick last week
and I told him a trick that the Guzman's told me about, that if you have a
stuffy nose you can eat chile and it helps your nose clear up. I tried it, and
it works so I told Elder Lopez about it and he was like, "Heck to the
bone, no!!" Haha I don't know how he has survived serving in Spanish if he
doesn't like Mexican food...

¡Cambios!
Anoche
nos avisaron de los cambios y desde hace 6 semanas que sabía que nuestro
compañerismo de tres no iba a durar, además sabía que yo sería la que me iría a
otra parte y tenía razón. Las Hnas.
Rodas y Pratt se quedarán aquí en Modesto. ¡Yo me iré de aquí y me tocará estar
en Ceres! Estoy muy contenta porque he escuchado que el barrio de ese lugar es
muy buena onda. Además, mi compañera va a ser la Hna. Pimentel que al parecer
es una muy buena misionera. ¡Estoy feliz! Lo que sí me da tristeza es dejar a
la Hna. Rodas porque nos hemos hecho muy amigas y ella es muy buena. Sin
embargo, ya hicimos planes para el resto de nuestra vida y nuestros hijos van a
ser primos.
También
este cambio va a ser de 7 semanas en lugar de 6, ya que en todas las misiones
ese tiempo se ha extendido debido a que varios de los misioneros ya no
permanecerán en el CCM sólo 12 días, sino que el mínimo volverá a ser 3
semanas. ¡Qué tal! Lo cierto es que todo
parece indicar que va a ser un cambio muy bueno y estoy contenta.
Esta
semana pudimos visitar a Jorge y Melissa que son de nuestros favoritos entre
los miembros menos activos. Ellos son muy buena onda y yo siento un lindo
espíritu cada vez que entro en su casa. Vimos el video de la Restauración y ellos
sintieron el Espíritu, y sólo espero con todo el corazón que un día regresen a
la Iglesia.
También
tenemos a una nueva investigadora que se llama Cinthia y es hermana de unos
miembros que son activos. Fue muy bonito porque estábamos en la casa de la hermana
de ella leyendo el Libro de Mormón con los niños y sin andarse por las ramas
nos pidió un ejemplar del libro. Me encanta cada vez que ni siquiera tenemos
que ofrecer a la gente el Libro de Mormón y nomás nos lo pide de su propia
iniciativa porque quiere decir que está dispuesta a escuchar nuestro mensaje.
Cinthia dice que tiene el deseo de acercarse a Dios y que quiere bautizarse,
pero que aún no se siente lista. Su vida ha sido muy difícil (¿acaso no es así
con todos?), pero hoy en la noche la vamos a ver y tenemos fe de que pronto
estará lista. Con todo y que ya no estaré en esta área, estoy contenta de
haberla conocido y de escuchar sus vivencias, y espero de corazón que se pueda
bautizar.
Hablando
de otras cosas, el élder López es mexicano pero a él no le gusta la comida
mexicana. La semana pasada estuvo enfermo y le dije un secreto que me
compartieron los Guzmán: que comiendo chile uno se cura de la nariz tapada. Yo
lo hice y me funcionó, y le dije al élder López que lo intentara y me dijo que
“¡de ninguna manera!”. ¡Qué chistoso! Pero la cosa es que no se cómo le hace
para servir en español si no le gusta la comida mexicana, en fin.
